New to lip filler? Consider this before booking in for a full syringe of lip filler in Parksville, Courtenay, Nanaimo, or Langley.
The number one question I receive as a cosmetic injector in Parksville, Courtenay, Nanaimo, and Langley, is: Should I get a half syringe or full syringe of what filler? While I wish I could give you a blanket answer of which is better, a half syringe or full syringe of lip filler, it truly varies per individual. That being said, if I had to answer without any context or consultation, I would say go with the half syringe of lip filler.
I’ve seen so many of my patients come in with the same thought—they want subtle results, but impactful enough that they have volume when they smile. So, what amount of lip filler will give them those results? Just like everyone’s lips are unique, so should their lip filler injections.
So, let’s break it down—here’s everything you need to know about lip filler in Parksville, Courtenay, Nanaimo, and Langley, BC.
What is lip filler?
First off, the basics. Lip filler is an injectable that helps increase volume, define the vermilion border, provide symmetry and increase hydration. The most common type of lip filler is made from hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance that occurs naturally in the body. HA attracts and retains water molecules and when injected to the lips, this gel-like substance enhances volume, hydration, and softness while supporting tissue structure.
What brand of lip filler is the best?
It’s important to note that not all dermal fillers are created equal. Beyond the brands of lip filler, there are often different formulas within each brand, some which may be better for your specific lip augmentation needs. The most popular filler brands in Canada are Juvéderm, Restylane, Revanesse, Radiesse and Teosyal. Depending on your provider, they may have a preference of one brand over another (I personally trust and use Revanesse®, which we will get into below). Overall, when you are looking to book lip filler, I encourage you to do your own research and never be afraid to ask your cosmetic injector which brand of filler they would be using for your injections. If your chosen injector does not provide this information to you or seems offended that you asked, that could be a red flag and you may want to consider booking with another provider.

Why should I choose Revanesse® lip filler?
There are a couple of different types of lip fillers on the Canadian market, but Revanesse® is my top choice for my lip filler patients in Parksville, Courtenay, Nanaimo, and Langley. Along with being proudly Canadian made, Revanesse® has a unique formula designed to blend easily with your natural tissue. Its spherical shape helps the body accept the product, which means there’s less risk of visible lumps, reduced risk of bruising and longer lasting results.
Revanesse® offers excellent versatility beyond lip filler. With several different formulas, Revanesse® is my choice for all dermal filler treatments (except for under eyes, which you can learn about here).

Whether you’re looking for a subtle enhancement or a more noticeable change, Revanesse® provides natural, soft results—from adding volume, defining the border of the lip, and improving hydration.

What’s the difference between a half syringe and a full syringe of lip filler?
For most brands a full syringe equals 1.0 ml of product, but Revanesse® offers a little bit more than most. A full syringe of Revanesse® is 1.2 ml of product, meaning a half syringe is 0.6 ml. To put it in perspective, a full syringe of filler is approximately 1/5 of a teaspoon. Now, that might not seem like a lot of product but when properly placed, it can make a dramatic difference.
Will I need a half syringe or full syringe of lip filler?
When it comes to deciding whether you need a half syringe or a full syringe of lip filler in Parksville, Courtenay, Nanaimo, and Langley, the right choice really comes down to your desired outcome and natural lip structure. If your lips are naturally thin, or you’ve experienced some volume loss due to aging, you may find that a full syringe of lip filler is necessary to get the fullness you’re looking for—but keep in mind, this will likely take multiple sessions to build your lip filler and typically starts with just a half syringe.

The best way to determine how much lip filler you’ll need is to book a personalized consultation at one of my locations in Parksville, Courtenay, Nanaimo, or Langley. During your visit, we’ll talk through your goals and concerns, assess your lip structure, and tailor a treatment plan that complements your natural features and aesthetic preferences. Since everyone’s lips are unique, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach—and you’re not limited to just a half or full syringe. These are the most commonly mentioned amounts simply because that’s how most providers price the product. But sometimes ¾ of a syringe is the perfect amount of filler for your lips.
When deciding on the amount of filler, we’ll consider a few key factors:
– Your natural lip shape and size
– The level of enhancement you’re hoping to achieve
– How your lips will harmonize with your overall facial features—AKA profile balancing
– The integrity of the tissue and structure

Is a full syringe of lip filler too much?
But will a full syringe of lip filler give you the dreaded duck lips? You know, that overfilled, unnatural look that’s become a bit of a stereotype on social media. The good news is, no, a full syringe won’t automatically give you that “fake” appearance. In fact, when done properly, a full syringe can give you undetectable, natural-looking results.

As an injector, my goal is always to make sure your lips look proportional to the rest of your face and that the integrity of the lip structure remains intact (AKA let’s avoid filler migration). The key to avoiding that duck lip result is all in the technique. I take into consideration your natural lip shape, symmetry, and how much volume your lips can realistically handle at once, ensuring that your lip filler is applied evenly and in a way that enhances your features, not exaggerates them. If you’ve seen people with overfilled lips, it’s often because their lip filler was applied incorrectly or too aggressively.
Overtime lip filler, even when injected properly, can migrate slightly from its original placement due to how active the muscles in the area are. For that reason I’d rather err on too little than too much when it comes to lip filler injections. When we start slow, we can focus on building within the vermilion border of the lip to contain future volume added. This also allows us the opportunity to see how your specific lip movements impact your lip filler placement and adjust from there.

How much does lip filler cost?
Lip filler ranges between $325 in $600 per full syringe on Vancouver Island, and surrounding areas—at least when you book with me. Providers will have slightly varying lip filler prices based on the brand of lip filler they use, their location/overhead costs, and their expertise. Never choose your cosmetic injector based on the price of the treatment. If it sounds too good to be true it most likely is. If you haven’t already read my guide to recognizing cosmetic injector red flags.
I offer full transparency when it comes to how much lip filler costs at all four of my locations: Parksville, Courtenay, Nanaimo, and Langley. While considering your budget and goals, we can work together to find a treatment plan that is best for your well-being and your wallet. Here’s a pricing breakdown of what you can expect to pay for lip filler when you book with me.
Most cosmetic injectors charge by the syringe for lip filler (this is also the pricing model that I follow). Meaning, if we use one full syringe, the cost for your lip filler is $600*. If we use a half syringe of lip filler it’s $350*. I also offer discounted pricing ($325) through my share a syringe of lip filler with a friend option—perfect if both patients are available to book together and would both like a half syringe.
Ultimately, the cost of lip filler in BC, will depend on how much filler you require, but I always recommend discussing your budget and goals for the treatment at the beginning of your appointment. This ensures we can plan the right amount of filler for your needs, and I can give you a more specific estimate based on what you’re hoping to achieve.
