Considering lip filler in Nanaimo, BC? Read this first.

Whether you are brand new to lip filler or a complete pro, I am sharing exactly what I believe you should know before booking your lip filler in Nanaimo, BC.

As one of my most popular cosmetic injection treatments over the last five years, I’ve received some of these questions hundreds of times—and they are so valid! Above all, I want you to be completely informed on your options when it comes to lip filler before you choose to move forward. And if you have already been getting lip filler in Nanaimo already, I hope that this article can help reassure you that you’ve found the right fit in your cosmetic injector.

What is the procedure for lip filler in Nanaimo, BC?

Lip filler appointments can be made with me in Nanaimo at Xpose Salon through this booking link. Each filler appointment is scheduled for 30 minutes—sometimes we will need all this time and other times, we won’t.

For those who have heard the term countless times but aren’t sure exactly what lip filler is, let’s break it down. Lip filler injections use a needle to inject a small amount (usually a half syringe ( 0.6 ml) or a full syringe (1.2 ml) of filler into the top and/or bottom lip to achieve fuller looking lips.

While all fillers differ, I personally use Revanesse®  Kiss, which is a hyaluronic acid-based filler. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance in your body that keeps your skin hydrated and plump. As an FDA-approved option for lip augmentation, it is proven to be a safe and effective way to increase the volume of the lips.

When you arrive for your lip filler appointment with me, we will always start with a consultation. During this 5-10 minutes, I’ll ask you questions and you’ll tell me about your desired results. With this understanding, I’ll be able to provide treatment options and pricing. At this point, if you are comfortable, we will move ahead to prepping for your lip filler. If you are not ready to move forward, that is completely okay. I actually prefer you do not go ahead with any cosmetic injections until you are completely ready.

Before starting with your injections, we will take a before photo of your lips. It is up to you whether or not you give permission for your transformation to be shared on my website and social media, but it is important that we have this reference to help guide future treatments. To help reduce any discomfort, a topical numbing cream can be applied. It typically takes 10-15 minutes for the cream to take effect.

Depending on the treatment plan we decided on, I will then inject into various parts of your lips: vermillion border, Cupid’s bow, and/or oral commissures. You will feel a slight pinching sensation while I do this. Ice packs can be provided for those prone to bruising or with a lower pain tolerance. After all post-care instructions are provided, you will be ready to continue with your day, though please read through the restrictions before planning the day’s activities.

How much does lip filler cost in Nanaimo, BC?

Lip filler injections with me in Nanaimo, BC (and anywhere to be clear!) are $500 for a full syringe and $300 for a half syringe. I also offer a “share with a friend” promotion that allows you and one other person to book for the same time slot and share a full syringe, each receiving a half syringe for $250.

Do I need a full syringe or half syringe of lip filler?

If you’ve been a patient of mine before or followed me on social media for any amount of time, you’ll know I am a big fan of the half syringe for lip filler. That being said, there are times when a full syringe is the best option to achieve a patient’s desired results. The most important thing to remember is to not rush your lip filler by injecting too much, too soon. This could lead to filler migration and the dreaded “duck lip” effect. This topic is quite expansive, so I’ve actually written an entire article on the subject. Click here to learn more.

Can I combine lip filler with a lip flip?

Yes! I actually recently tried this for myself and loved my results! There’s no need to book separate appointments though lip flips and lip fillers are technically two separate treatments. At the beginning of every patient appointment, I include a consultation to answer all your questions and help you determine the best option for you. If you’d like to learn more about lip flips and my personal experience with combining a lip flip with filler, read this.

What type of lip filler is the best?

There are several lip filler brands on the market, each with their own unique benefits. I have personally been using Revanesse® Kiss for my own lip filler and for my patients’ for over five years. I choose Revanesse® because it is a Canadian company with incredibly high standards and first class manufacturing guidelines. It is actually the only cross-linked hyaluronic acid filler that is Canadian made. Its formula is spherical in structure, which allows it to be accepted by the body easier and lasts longer. Clinical studies have also shown Revanesse® causes less swelling than other leading brands, which means you can see your true results sooner. While this is the brand that I use and trust right now, that doesn’t mean there aren’t other great options on the market. As I learn of new options, I always share my research and honest opinions with my subscribers (click here if you are not already).

Is there any downtime associated with lip filler?

After your lip filler injections, you will experience some swelling and tenderness—and that’s completely normal. Bruising is a very common side effect of lip filler and a complex one. To learn more about how to reduce your risk of bruising post filler, check out my guide.  You can expect swelling to reduce and see the full results of your lip filler within a week or two. There are some key dos and don’ts when it comes to lip filler aftercare. For more information, check out my Botox & Filler Aftercare Bible.

How long does lip filler last?

The answer to that depends on the type of filler used and the individual’s metabolism. Revanesse® Kiss can last up to 6 months, but keep in mind that everyone is different, so results do vary.

How To Choose Your Lip Filler Injector in Nanaimo, BC

We may be a small island, but we are full of talent. When it comes to choosing the right cosmetic injector for your lip filler in Nanaimo, BC, do your research. I do not recommend using price or location to decide on your cosmetic injector. While it’s nice to have an injector close by, since injections are usually months apart, I would recommend driving that little bit further and paying that little bit extra for someone who you are completely comfortable with. Nanaimo, Parksville and the surrounding areas are home to some extremely talented and qualified cosmetic injectors. Take your time to read their reviews, check out their patient transformations and ask lots of questions.

Here’s what you need to know before booking your lip filler with me:

  • I am also a Naturopathic Doctor, which has allowed me to build a strong understanding of facial anatomy.
  • I err on the side of too little and am not afraid to say no to more filler. If this upsets you in any way, I may not be the right injector for you. I build lip filler slowly to help reduce the risk of filler migration and aim to enhance my patients’ natural beauty.
  • I currently use and love Revanesse® Kiss.
  • I do not believe you NEED lip filler. While cosmetic injectors are a huge part of my livelihood, I will never push someone to get more botox or filler than they want—it is your choice whether or not you want lip filler.
  • A complimentary consultation is included in every appointment with me, there is no need to book on separately. After we chat, if you are uncomfortable moving ahead with the actual treatment, that is 100 percent okay.
