The Nefertiti Lift: What You’re Not Being Told

by Dr. Heather Iverson | Nov 25, 2025 | Cosmetic Injections, Neuromodulators

Dr. Heather Iverson, ND, explains why the Nefertiti Neck Lift, targeted botox to help soften neck bands and define the jawline, is gaining popularity. Plus, what you need to know ahead of booking the Nefertiti Neck Lift at her Vancouver Island (Parksville, Nanaimo and...

My Preferred Neuromodulator: Botox®, Dysport® or Nuceiva™?

by Dr. Heather Iverson | Apr 20, 2022 | Cosmetic Injections

When it comes to “botox” your options go beyond, well, Botox®. I’m going to sound like a broken record, but it needs to be said–I believe in providing my patients options. Along with the option to have or not have cosmetic injections, you have the choice of which...

Botox® or Dysport®: What’s The Difference?

by Dr. Heather Iverson | Apr 10, 2022 | Cosmetic Injections

My personal experience with both Botox® or Dysport® and which one I prefer for my patient’s injections.  I often get asked, “Which is better: Botox® or Dysport®?”  While both are neuromodulators and can basically be used interchangeably, there are a few...

WHAT MOST INJECTORS DON’T TELL YOU | If you’re unhappy with your botox results, timing matters. In general, your window to assess whether a touch-up is needed is around the 2–3 week mark, once results have fully settled. Coming in too soon means results aren’t fully visible; waiting until much later—closer to when neuromodulators typically wear off—can sometimes throw off balance as different areas fade at different times. This is why I take an individualized approach to neuromodulator timing. While there are general guidelines, real life, muscle activity, and upcoming plans sometimes mean adjusting timing slightly—and in certain cases, treating a bit earlier can still be appropriate. More frequent botox doesn’t mean better botox; proper assessment and precise placement of units matter far more. If it’s too soon, I’ll tell you. If this post made you start doing the mental math… hi 👋 it might be time to come see me.

THE REVEAL 👀 | Some of your guesses had me cackling, but they were (for the most part) incorrect. Here`s exactly what I had done in between the before and after:
• 0.9 ml Revanesse® Kiss™ in my lips
•1.2 ml of Revanesse® Ultra™+ to soften my nasolabial folds
• 0.4 ml of Redensity® II placed in the upper lip “shadow” area to soften vertical lines

This transformation was important for me to share because so many of you have come to me for help with vertical upper lip lines in the past and I`ve turned you away (sorry, not sorry). Redensity® II has been proving clinically to treat this tricky area and I`ve been loving the results that I`ve achieved personally and with a handful of patients so far. Previously, the filler formulas used to treat this area were simply TOO HEAVY and caused strange results. Redensity® II is lighter and more flexible, allowing fine lines to soften while keeping movement natural. Results typically last around 6 months. So no, I didn`t have my cheeks done (thank you contour sticks!), and thank you for all your guesses!

CONSISTENCY IN COSMETIC INJECTIONS | Are you booked in for your next appointment with me? My books are open from now through the summer, and I’d love to see you plan out your next few visits based on the cadence we’ve discussed for your individual needs. When I see you regularly, I understand how your muscles move, how your metabolism responds, and what approach best meets your needs. That’s how we build results gradually, refine them thoughtfully, and avoid overcorrection. Could we do a quick roll call — which location do you see me at?

POV: Your lip filler made you look happier | When lips lose hydration or support, the corners of the mouth can subtly pull downward and your face can look less joyful when at rest. In this client`s case, restoring softness, balance and hydration helped her expression read as more relaxed and open, even without smiling. This is the kind of thing I love about cosmetic injections. Small, careful enhancements that allow you to feel more like yourself.

THE JUGGLE IS REAL | As a mom and a business owner, I know firsthand how hard it is to carve out even a little time for yourself. Most of us are moving through life with full calendars, full hands, and very little space left over. So when my patients tell me they struggle to book appointments because they’re stretched thin… I get it. But I also know how much it matters to claim something that’s just for you. These appointments aren’t about perfection (trust me, I’m far from perfect). They’re about taking a moment to feel supported, refreshed, and confident. If you’ve been waiting for permission to prioritize yourself, consider this it.

I am all for nostalgia and 2016 was a big year, so here it goes:
1. Graduated from Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine.
2. Had an adventurous bachelorette with my favourite people.
3. Married the love of my life.
4. Bought our first home in Chilliwack.
5. Travelled to Hawaii.
6. Travelled for additional training—learning prolotherapy for ligament, tendon, and joint repair.
7. Travelled to Russia to visit @dr.janeawrightnd.

2016 was my foundation year. A decade later, I’m still in a career I love, married to the man I now have two kids with, still close with my people, still loving Hawaii, and always taking courses to keep building my skills. And while I’ve said goodbye to Chilliwack, I’m loving Nanaimo. I heard 2036 is the new 2026, so let’s reconvene then? 😅

Melatonin has helped me at times and especially with falling asleep.
But when my sleep stayed restless or unrefreshing, I had to look further.
That’s what this carousel is about. Melatonin is a signal, not the whole system. Hormones, iron status, stress, and circadian rhythm all influence whether that signal actually lands.
Sleep in perimenopause is rarely about one supplement — it’s about understanding the bigger picture.

Has melatonin helped you? Or left you confused?

This isn’t about crushing workouts.
It’s about doing what actually fits in this season of life.

Short. Focused. Repeatable.

Strength/resistance training in perimenopause isn’t optional, it’s protective.
For muscles, bones, metabolism, hormones, and long-term health and mobility.

If this looks doable… that’s the point ☝️

Let’s share ideas! What works for you??? Comment below 👇

I think most of us have dabbled with Melatonin 😉
But it’s actually the end of a much bigger pathway.

Meaning… there’s more to the story.
-Hormones
-Iron status (guilty!)
-Stress (cortisol)
-Circadian rhythm
-Genetics
All influence how well our body makes and responds to melatonin.

Shout-out to my friend Morgan @feed.your.genes for the work she’s done for me and in helping her patients personalize nutrition, lifestyle and exercise through a genetic lens !!

If you want to learn more I suggest following her page as well!

Does melatonin work for you?

Great if it does! But it’s very common that it won’t.
Sleep in perimenopause is about the whole system, not just what we take at night. I’m on a journey to really explain and understand all the pieces to the puzzle !

Give me a wave if you value your sleep 👋

I’m hoping to address some common issues and help you troubleshoot some reasons behind sleep struggles to give you back that rest you deserve 💤

Sleep disruption is one of the most common concerns I hear from women in perimenopause. Over the next week or so, I’m going to cover the most common sleep issues women experience and simplify why they happen.

This isn’t about “trying harder” or better sleep hygiene alone. It’s about understanding hormones, neurotransmitters, vitamins, minerals and how they all interconnect and change across a women’s cycle.

Save this and follow along if your sleep has felt off lately-or tag a friend who could benefit too!

Not gonna lie… I’ve been off my routine lately 🙋‍♀️
And then I remembered: perimenopause is not the time to ghost your dumbbells.

🦴 Quick bone facts we don’t talk about enough:

☑️ Women reach our peak bone density around the age of 20
☑️ Bone loss can begin in early perimenopause but accelerates during the later years
☑️ Women can lose up to 20% of bone density in the years around menopause (50-54)

🏋️ Strength training is one of the most effective ways to slow bone loss and reduce fracture risk

This isn’t about aesthetics.
It’s about staying strong, steady, and independent for decades.
Posting this because if I needed the reminder… maybe you did too ????

“YOU’RE FINE. JUST POWER THROUGH”
I saw it twice this morning.
Two women, one perimenopausal and one postmenopausal, both saying the same thing: “I’m scared to bring it up with my doctor. I don’t want to seem like I’m complaining.”

This isn’t rare. Women are still being told to “power through,” or that their symptoms are “just stress” or “normal for your age.”

But we deserve better care and better listening.

Every time I hear these stories, it fuels my passion to help women be heard, supported, and empowered to understand what’s actually happening in their bodies.

The conversations happening behind the treatment room door are changing and I’m listening.
Women want to feel good in their skin and in their bodies.
And I’m here for all of it.

Follow along at @drheatheriverson for how I support women from the outside, and here for everything happening on the inside. 🤍
