Nearly a decade ago, at 29, I experienced botox and lip filler for the first time. I knew the anatomy, the products and the risks—and I was still nervous. The treatment was conservative: about 30 units of botox and a quarter-syringe of lip filler. Jesse didn’t even notice, but I noticed every sensation, subtle change and swelling, checking my reflection throughout the drive home. Becoming a patient taught me what medical training couldn’t: how vulnerable cosmetic injections can feel. After a decade of injecting and being injected, it`s time to share my full experience.

Nearly a decade ago, at 29, I experienced botox and lip filler for the first time. I knew the anatomy, the products and the risks—and I was still nervous. The treatment was conservative: about 30 units of botox and a quarter-syringe of lip filler. Jesse didn’t even notice, but I noticed every sensation, subtle change and swelling, checking my reflection throughout the drive home. PEOPLE DON’T TALK ABOUT THIS ENOUGH | If you missed it, I posted a patient transformation of tear troughs using Redensity II. This is the product and treatment area that I don’t see most injectors talking about, and I think I know why. It’s not because the results aren’t incredible (because they are); it’s because a lot of injectors choose not to treat this high-risk area.

The anatomy under the eye is incredibly complex. The skin is thin, the lymphatic drainage is delicate, and the blood vessels in this area connect with the circulation that supplies the eye. There is very little room for error.
Filler placed too superficially can leave a blue-grey colour or visible lumps. It can also cause prolonged swelling, puffiness, contour irregularities or migration. The rare but most serious risk is vascular occlusion, where filler compromises blood flow. This can damage the skin and, in extremely rare cases, cause vision loss.

I don’t share all of this to scare you, but to remind you to take your consultation with ANY injector seriously and ask all the questions. I love what Redensity II can do in this area, and if I believe a patient is a good candidate after a consultation, I will offer this treatment. As with any cosmetic injection treatment, you should not take the decision lightly.

It’s so much fun seeing our boys start to enjoy the same hobbies (even if it is for only a fraction of the time you’d like to do them), each year will bring new enjoyment ☺️

A belated Mother’s Day weekend with my mom and sisters was exactly what I didn’t know I needed.

As women, we spend so much of our lives caring for everyone else—our children, our partners, our patients, our parents—that we often forget one of the most powerful health interventions available to us:

Connection.

Research shows that meaningful social relationships are associated with lower stress, improved mental health, greater resilience, and even increased longevity. Strong social bonds can help buffer the effects of chronic stress and support overall wellbeing.

And while we often talk about nutrition, exercise, sleep, and hormones when it comes to women’s health, we don’t talk nearly enough about community.

Especially during perimenopause and menopause, when many women are juggling careers, aging parents, growing children, shifting identities, and changing hormones, feeling connected matters.

This weekend was full of beach walks, laughter, long conversations, good food, and the kind of comfort that only comes from being with people who’ve known you your whole life.

Maybe the real prescription was a beach walk, a glass of wine, and three women who’ve known me my entire life. ❤️

I’m trying something new. I want to see if this is a realistic lifestyle suggestion for us busy moms !

No, I didn’t come up with this. I don’t know who did.

I’m finding (especially with the time change), waking earlier in the morning to get a workout in, isn’t happening. So I’m trying to get 100 push-ups done in a day -throughout the day !

Honestly… first attempted I only got 20 in 🤣
Second attempt I got 50… and now I’m too sore today (day 3) but let’s see if I can get another 50 in 🤔 (and not at once! I can only do 10 continuous push-ups)

You can also do this with squats/crunches/etc!

Let me know if this has worked for you with a 👋 or if you want an update on how this goes haha 🤣

Melatonin has helped me at times and especially with falling asleep.
But when my sleep stayed restless or unrefreshing, I had to look further.
That’s what this carousel is about. Melatonin is a signal, not the whole system. Hormones, iron status, stress, and circadian rhythm all influence whether that signal actually lands.
Sleep in perimenopause is rarely about one supplement — it’s about understanding the bigger picture.
