Dr. Iverson believes in achieving a natural look when using aesthetic injections. You’re probably familiar with the term “botox” but the proper term is neuromodulator. There are 4 types; Botox Cosmetic®, Dysport®, Xeomin® & Nuceiva®. They are natural purified proteins that temporarily diminish fine lines and wrinkles in selective areas. The most common treated areas are; forehead lines, frown lines between the brows, crows feet, mouth lines, and can even be used to give a distinct eyebrow lift.

Which is best for me?

While Dr. Iverson is well-versed in all four types of neuromodulators on the market and have helped her patients achieve beautiful results with each.

Can you exercise after receiving botox?

There are a few reasons you will be instructed not to exercise for 24 hours after receiving botox injections. The main reason is to prevent unwanted results and make sure you get the results you expected. Here’s why, exercise increases your heart rate which increases your blood flow. So in theory, exercise could cause the botox to diffuse away from the intended location.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So, no exercise for 24 hours post injections.

How is botox preventative?

So we’re talking about preventing wrinkles. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Wrinkles are formed when the muscles in our face make expressions over and over again. Neuromodulators relax the muscles in our face by blocking nerve responses and therefore potentially lessening the overall wrinkle outcome.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

There is a caveat. If you start botox too young and do too much it can age you. Therefore, make sure you are seeing a trained doctor who will tailor your treatment to your needs and has your future in mind. ⠀

Yes, you can always stop for however long you want with no negative impact (other than potentially increasing your wrinkles).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This is individualized to why and what you are aiming to achieve. Always remember less can be more and these days, movement is key.

What is the most common age of men seeking botox?

Men, there is no shame in wanting to soften up those forehead lines. In fact, surveys show us more men are seeking botox injections than ever before. The most common age of men seeking botox are between 35 and 50.

How does botox work?

Botox, or other neuromodulators such as Dysport, temporarily relaxes targeted facial muscles that cause fine lines and wrinkles from repeatedly frowning, raising eyebrows and squinting your eyes.

Will my face look frozen?

If you go to a trained certified professional you most definitely can still show expression and move your face, but without the wrinkles forming.

What are the treatments like?

Will I bruise?

This is a common concern for many trying botox for the first time and of course, no one wants to bruise. Luckily, it’s a extremely rare side effect. If bruising occurs, it can be covered with makeup or lipstick quite easily and will subside in a day or two.

How long does a botox treatment take?

The actual procedure only takes about 10 to 15 minutes (that’s including prep time). Most people are very surprised with how quick and simple it is. ⁣

How long does botox last?

Botox results typically last 3 to 4 months.
